Road Safety

1st of December 2014

You can help to keep your village safe. Speeding through the village, particularly approaching the crossroads, is a serious concern and the second most frequent complaint put to your Parish Council.

Following an initiative by the Police and Crime Commissioner, we have access to the tools to combat this problem.

Volunteers who can devote a small amount of time are sought to form a team of vehicle speed marshals. This is not an onerous task and equipment, training and high-viz clothing will be provided. The team will have the freedom to determine the time and location of monitoring activities. Vehicle details and recorded speeds are passed to the Police who initially write to the offender, but if there are further offences a penalty will be issued by the Police. This is not a substitute for normal Police activities, which will continue as normal.

We do have a number of volunteers but need a minimum of ten signatories from which a minimum of three will undergo training.

Should you need any further information, please contact the Parish Clerk on 01442 386237 or
