Green Flag Award

1st of February 2013

Councillor Harry Laverack, Chairman of the Parish Council (L) and Mike Bradshaw previous chairman raise the 2013 Green Flag

Chipperfield Common has once again achieved the prestigious Green Flag Award. This means that the Common has been judged to meet the criteria for the award as a well-managed, welcoming place valued by the local community. The Green Flag Award is a national scheme designed to improve standards of green spaces nationwide. This year 1,288 parks have received a Green Flag award. Across the country there are about 30,000 green spaces so our Common is judged to be in the top 5%. We are proud to have achieved this award which is a community achievement.

I would like to thank the many local people who have worked hard to maintain the high standard required. Particular thanks go to the Village Warden, the Village Ranger, Friends of Chipperfield Common and the help and guidance of the Dacorum Woodland Manager. Special thanks go to Mike Bradshaw who has steered the Parish Council’s efforts over the years to maintain this high standard. Mike kindly agreed to raise the Flag at the cricket club on behalf of the community.

Harry Laverack, Chairman, Chipperfield Parish Council
