The Royal British Legion Chipperfeild Branch
2012 Poppy Appeal
Just as the Poppy Appeal began the weather turned very cold but, nevertheless, our intrepid door-to-door collectors did wonders yet again. Throughout the year several businesses have kindly had a collecting tin on their counters, and together with their regular poppy trays our local retail outlets and pubs have raised no less than £1,853.81 for the Legion. The donations made at the RBL stall on the Common during the Jubilee celebrations came to £1027; a wonderful bonus. Also on the Common, through the generosity of the anonymous benefactor, our bucket collection taken at the fireworks display produced the great contribution of £1098.82. It is obvious that Chipperfield people remain very generous indeed for this still vital cause and the total raised this year was £7,542.01.
My thanks to everyone who donated, the collectors, the counting team and to all those other people who have helped us to achieve this record result.
