Village People

1st of December 2011

Donald Main, who lived at Mahogany Hall for many years, has moved to Cornwall. We wish him happiness in his new home in Penzance. His wife Sally, who has sadly died, was one of the first editors of Chipperfield News and they both played active roles in village organisations over the years.

Audrey Dodds died early in 2011 after a short illness. She survived her husband, Derek, who died in 2006. She then moved to Scotland to be near Simon. Derek and Audrey lived in Chipperfield from 1970 to 1989 in The Street opposite what was Hawkings Stores now The Larder. They were both very active locally with Audrey on the School Board and involved in the W.I. She also worked in Hawkings Stores for a number of years and Val and David Hawkings visited Audrey in Scotland in 2010. Derek worked for Rolls Royce at Leavesden, then Airfix as Personnel Director. Locally he managed the youth football team in the early 70’s and played a lot of cricket on the common as part of the local team. They both kept in touch with many of their friends in the village and always looked back with great affection to the time they had in Chipperfield.
