Chipperfield Corinthians Football Club

1st of March 2011

The 2010/2011 season is at the half way stage and so far it has been an up and down one for the Chipperfield Corinthians first team. The main issue has been inconsistency with availability of the same players hindering being higher placed. At the time of writing the first team lie in 10th place out of 15 in the Herts County Senior League. However, this doesn’t tell the whole story as they are only 4 points away from being 4th.
The New Year got off to a great start with a 2-1 away win at Wormley (currently 2nd in the league). The game of the season so far was this week’s cup match against Harpenden Town who play in the higher Spartan South Midlands League. At half time the game looked lost with Chipperfield 1-3 down, but a stirring second half comeback saw them win 4-3 and progress to the quarterfinal of the Anagram Records Trophy where they will play Aston Clinton. The reserves remain coached by Jason Ward and Peter Dent. They entered the Herts County League Division One following their excellent promotion last season. The season has gone pretty well so far and they are sitting in 5th place in the league having won 4 and drawn 2 of their 10 league games. The next two league games are both against teams below them in the league so they have a good chance to move up. The club has its own website, where you can follow the progress of both teams and get details of forthcoming matches. Finally, there are games on every Saturday at the Queen Street pitch in Chipperfield and a warm welcome will be extended to all supporters. Martyn Dicker
