1st Chipperfield Brownies

1st of September 2010

We have welcomed three new Brownies since April. This term we learned about what Brownies was like in the past and gained our Brownie Traditions badge, went on a nature trail and made collages out of natural materials. The older girls did their out and about badge with John Hopkins (thanks Dad) and the younger girls continued our 100 years of Girlguiding theme by trying to do 100 skips, jumps etc. We enjoyed a joint bowling evening with Bovingdon Guides and we went to Whipsnade Zoo!
The term ended with 1st Chipperfield Brownies have got talent. The talent show was wonderful – girls entertaining parents with everything from Bollywood dancing to Irish dancing and ballet and from singing to poems and even a magic trick! A really great evening – well done everyone!
The main highlight of the term was the Division Sleepover. Around 350 girls attended this at Phasels Wood in Kings Langley. There were so many activities for the girls to do that they couldn’t fit everything in! They included climbing, abseiling, go-karts, high ropes, cresta run, archery and even pot holing! There were also many craft activities and a beauty parlour! We had a campfire in the evening and then a midnight feast! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the weekend which was held to celebrate our centenary year – some great memories for years to come!
The Super Brownie of the Year competition was as follows: 1st Sophie Brett, 2nd Chloe Wicks and 3rd Lucinda Dodd, well done everyone, very well deserved. Rhiannon gained her Leadership Qualification at the age of 18, a very proud moment for me as she is my first Brownie to become a leader, congratulations Little Owl!
Sadly, we said goodbye to one of our Young Leaders, Chloe, who is joining 1st Abbots Langley Brownies in September. My thanks go to my wonderful team of leaders: Hannah, Pat, Emma, Rhiannon, Ella and Chloe.
My Pack is full at the moment, but if you would like to put your daughter’s name on the waiting list please contact Sian Roberts on 07982 610775 or email at sian@rumballsedgwick.co.uk
If you are 18+ and interested in giving some time to Girlguiding UK and would like a really rewarding experience in working with girls aged 5-14, please contact Jean Banks on 01923 400370. Thank you.
