1st Chipperfiled Brownies

1st of June 2010

We have welcomed three new Brownies since January. Here are some of the fun activities the girls have enjoyed this term. We made Easter bonnets and friendship bracelets and dressed up in costumes from different countries to celebrate Thinking Day.
Our Brownies joined in various District events which included a special Church Parade to celebrate our Girlguiding UK centenary. Each unit was given one of the five continents to organise a short entertainment – Chipperfield Brownies had Europe and learned Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Dutch!
Another of our District events was Keep Moving 100. Seven of our girls were sponsored to keep moving for 100 minutes by doing activities such as circuit training, disco dancing and even learning hip hop dancing! Everyone had a great time and Hannah and I joined in too! Our girls raised an amazing £223.50 for District funds! Well done everyone!
We also helped people pack their shopping at Sainsburys in Apsley. We raised an amazing £440!! Half of this money was raised for Sport Relief and the other half for our District funds. Thanks very much to all the girls and parents who came along to support us, very much appreciated.
I think the real highlight of the term was the Mums and Daughters pamper night. Thanks very much to Debbie for organising this wonderful evening. The girls and Mums enjoyed making pot pourri bags, lip gloss, painting their nails, having their hair done and even had cocktails and a chocolate fountain!! We also had a raffle and raised £43 for Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice. An absolutely fantastic evening – one that will stand out for me as one of the best since I became Brown Owl almost 13 years ago!
My Pack is full at the moment, but if you would like to put your daughter’s name on the waiting list (the starting age is 7) it’s never too early! Please contact Sian Roberts on 07982 610775 or email at
If you are interested in giving some time to Girlguiding UK and would like a really rewarding experience in working with girls aged 5-14, please contact Jean Banks on 01923 400370.
Thank you. Sian Roberts, Brown Owl
