Planning Applications

Before considering submitting a Planning Application please download the Village Design Statement from the Village Design page.

The Parish Council’s role on planning matters is only an advisory one. All applications for planning developments should therefore be addressed to:-

The Planning Department
Dacorum Borough Council
Civic Centre
Hemel Hempstead
HP1 1HH
Telephone 01442 228000

Alternatively you can now make planning applications online www.dacorum.gov.uk

Notices of planning applications received are put up at the roadside adjacent to the appropriate site and details sent to immediate neighbours and published in the Hemel Hempstead Gazette. If residents wish to support or oppose an application then they should send their comment to the above address, but it is helpful if a copy can also can be sent to the Parish Clerk, so that local councillors may be aware of their views.

The Parish Council is sent copies of the plans for all applications affecting the village and is asked to submit its views. If these views concur with those of the Planning officers, then a decision will usually be made at that level. For major developments or where the Parish Council’s views differ from those of the officers, then an application will be referred to the Borough Council’s Development Control Committee for a decision. Members of the public, having given prior notice, are allowed to make a personal statement before the Committee relating to a specific application.

Residents wishing to refer to the detailed plans for a planning application in Chipperfield may refer to them by appointment only at the home of the Chairman of the Parish Council’s Planning Committee,
Cllr David Nobbs Tel 01923-269480
