Chipperfield’s WW2 Book Launch
For the last four years Mary and Andrew Nobbs have been busy researching for the forthcoming book Chipperfield in the Second World War –Those who served and Life on the Home Front. Contributions have been made by families living in Bovingdon, Chipperfield, Kings Langley, Sarratt and further afield.
The book is A4 in format and consists of between 350 and 400 pages. It focuses on the 200 men and women from the village who served in World War Two and those who made the supreme sacrifice and are remembered on the village war memorial. The accounts of their lives and war service are mostly illustrated with a photograph.
The section about wartime life on the home front in Chipperfield is illustrated with unique photographs and gives an insight into how the war impacted on those who remained behind in the village. This should be of particular interest to the younger generation.
