Charity Dog Show And Open Day

1st of October 2014

On Saturday 2 August Theravet celebrated their first year in Chipperfield by holding a Charity Open Day. Despite the inclement weather there was a fabulous turnout and a great day was had by all. The day included a fun dog show, full of four legged friends all vying for the title of several light hearted accolades. A number of stall holders attended, donating their pitch fees to the charities and there was a wonderful display of classic cars and motorbikes. Cream teas, cakes, a BBQ for locally made sausage hot dogs and a beer tent added to the event. Members of the public were also able to walk next door to the Manor House Open Gardens and enjoy their ambience in between cloudbursts.

The day was sponsored by a number of kind hosts including Lee Gilmour at Kia Motors, Tower Hill, and Steven Honeyball and Fabio Capozzi who were the DJs from TRM dog supplies and Funktion DJs. The goodie bags for the dog show were provided by Pets At Home, Apsley.

The day culminated with an Auction of Promises, an eclectic mix of fabulous lots including holidays, days out, wines and hampers. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the individuals and local businesses who donated to the auction including, Chipperfield Larder, Garden Scene Chipperfield, The Grove Hotel and Chipperfield Landrover. We would also like to thank everyone who attended or helped.

A grand total of £3000 was raised which was split between Hounds for Heroes and the proposed new burial ground project. Hounds for Heroes trains and provides assistance dogs for British service men and women and those in the emergency services who have been severely injured in the line or duty. An additional £1117 was raised by the Manor House Open Garden which has been donated to the proposed new burial ground project.
