Chipperield Horticultural Society – Autumn Show

1st of September 2014

20 September in The Village Hall

This year has flown by. The mild winter, the very wet spring and the wonderful sunshine this summer; I wonder what the autumn will bring!! Our show this year has classes for everyone; 33 classes for vegetables, 8 for fruit and 34 for flowers. 3 for floral art, 8 for handicraft, 8 for domestic, 3 for photography, 6 for juniors and 3 novelty classes. Even if you have just one variety of vegetable with which you are pleased, or one plant, be it chrysanthemums, dahlias or roses or any other, enter and come along and be part of the show. Floral art classes are Heatwave and Culinary Delights, both classes must not exceed 20” x 20” x 30” high, alcoves are provided. The third class is an arrangement of Foliage, any container, not in an alcove. Photographs to be a maximum size of 7” x 5” and may be mounted but not framed. Subjects are Paths, All at Sea and Vegetables; still time to take that winning shot! Domestic class from a carrot cake, loaves, jam, jelly and bottles of wine and cordial. Have a look through the schedule and decide what you would like to make. How about a Hertfordshire Clanger (recipe in the schedule)? Juniors, with three age groups, 3-6, 7-10, 11-16 can make a Wooden Spoon Puppet or a Picture of the Four Seasons, A4 size.

Staging is from 8.00 – 10.30am, then the judging takes place. The doors reopen at 2.30pm and we serve delicious homemade cream teas and hold an auction of the prize winning exhibits. The raffle this year will be in aid of the proposed new Burial Ground so we hope you will come and support this very worthwhile project.
All entry forms to be given to Garden Scene or emailed to me by 12 noon on Thursday 18 September. Regretfully, late entries will not be accepted.
