Wi 80th Anniversary Celebration

1st of July 2014

On Tuesday 20 May, over 30 members and guests met in the Village Hall for lunch followed by entertainment and tea. We were delighted that Mrs Ann Hall, Hertfordshire Federation Chairman, (pictured right with Margaret Windsor, Chipperfield president) was able to attend. She spent a lot of time talking informally with our members, some of whom had belonged to our WI for over fifty years. She presented us with a WI certificate in recognition of our 80 years.

Ms Norah Tattersall, headteacher at St Paul’s school, and a large group of talented children from the school came and played musical instruments as well as singing and dancing for us. Following the children, The Chipperfield Players, a colourful ladies song and dance group, raised the roof and set our feet tapping; it was a wonderful performance.

Our celebration cake, iced in WI colours, was made by a member of the Bovingdon WI Market Association and was much admired. It tasted as good as it looked, not a crumb was left.

We would like to thank all those who helped to make such a memorable day.
Our next meeting is on 15 July when Pamela Sanderson will be conducting a mock Trial. Why not come and give judgement?
