Progress On The New Burial Ground

1st of June 2014

The Project Group have submitted information as to how two of the seven conditions applied to the grant of planning permission will be met. Both of these have been accepted and approved. As a result there should be activity soon on the site as an archeological survey is started. The Group is now working on providing information to satisfy other conditions.

Fund raising is going reasonably well with several significant personal donations and a £1,000 grant from the Parish Council for which the Group is extremely grateful. We are also applying for a grant from another source. The recent Race Night raised a good sum and because of its popularity is likely to be repeated. There are also plans for a major fund raising activity around September and details will be announced in due course.

Our original budget has been increased significantly because it has been decided that the roadside edge of the burial ground will have a brick and flint wall and not a hedge as originally planned. This decision was taken because there is a view that the village wants such a boundary. Consequently, we are looking at further possible sources of income, and personal donations, however small, are very welcome.
