Age Uk Dacorum Handyperson Scheme

1st of June 2014

This scheme was set up 17 years ago to provide help to older vulnerable people who had no relations, friends or neighbours to call on when they needed help to carry out a small DIY job. It is supported by 20 volunteers; all staff and volunteers are DBS approved. The scheme carries out a wide range of tasks: installing smoke alarms/door chains/spy holes/door locks/curtain rails/blinds/hanging pictures/installing grab rails/ assembling flat pack units/small decorating jobs/repairing or re-felting garden sheds. We do have to make a small charge to cover fixed costs and will assess larger jobs on an individual basis. The scheme will also help younger disabled or disadvantaged people when requested. If you would like a job done, please contact Doug Dews, 01442 259049.
