Come and discover the mysteries of the MOZART REQUIEM

Mozart’s Requiem has become one of the most revered pieces in the entire spectrum of choral music, not only for its outstanding lyrical and dramatic musical content but also for the strange circumstances surrounding its composition. From the day of its commission in the summer of 1791 it has been shrouded in mystery and to the present day there is still much uncertainty about the true source of some of the movements and who was the mysterious grey clad stranger who asked Mozart to write a Requiem Mass under conditions of great secrecy.

Chipperfield Choral Society will be performing the Mozart Requiem at their Spring Concert in St John’s Church, Boxmoor, on Saturday 15 March. Tickets are available now by telephoning the Box Office on 01923 400520 or from choir members.

The programme will also feature the Laudamus Te from the Gloria by Karl Jenkins and the Te Deum by Bizet. The beautiful Laudate Dominum from the Mozart Vespers will be sung by Mary Bevan. In addition, Anna Beryl, an exciting local up and coming cellist will be performing Silent Woods, a haunting and lyrical character piece by Dvorak.

With an exciting line-up of young soloists featuring return visits from the very talented Mary Bevan (Soprano), Rosemary Clifford (Mezzo), Tom Robson (Tenor) and Alex Ashworth (Baritone).
