Chipperfield Fireworks Display 2013

1st of December 2013

Firstly, I would like to thank the powers that be for the very handy break in the weather. We were blessed with a dry and cool evening with little wind. This enabled the fireworks to be seen in their true glory and, also, we were able to have a hot air balloon tethered on the common creating a dramatic night glow.

I am pleased to say that the crowd turned up in their thousands from far and wide to support this event again. Parking remains an issue and we must try and solve this problem if we are to continue next year. However, numbers were up by about ten per cent and all were treated to a memorable evening. Apart from the pyrotechnics and the balloonists, we had a variety of quality stallholders selling their wares. All of them were satisfied with their evenings’ takings. Bars, BBQ, Hog Roast, kids rides, candyfloss were amongst those on offer.

After the display there was live music in the pavilion until midnight. Fortunately, nobody required treatment from our first aid team and everyone went home safely.
It was a massive undertaking by the team of organisers, both in preparing the event and clearing up the next day. We hope to cover our costs and distribute a little to local good causes.

I would like to thank the following, in no particular order:
The organising team for being fantastic; our anonymous donor who paid for the fireworks; all our stallholders; DIRECT marshalls for keeping everyone safe on the night; Whizzbang of Kings Langley for a great fireworks display; our Balloonists for a great spectacle; Duncan and friends for providing the live music. And, finally, all the volunteers, bucket collectors and people who cleared the common. See you all next year.
Malcolm Leach
