Alex Cibula
I would like to thank everyone who so kindly wrote to me after the death of my beloved husband, at the age of 91, on 23 June. A stroke four and a half years ago had confined Alec to a wheelchair, but though he was physically helpless he lost little of his intellect, his sense of humour or the smile that would greet his visitors. A scientist by profession, Alec will be remembered in Chipperfield mainly as a gardener; anyone old enough may recall his plant stalls at the Open Gardens where he sold plants he had raised in aid of the Red Cross.

Midnight Walk
On 29 June our daughter, Jane, took part in the Midnight Walk for The Hospice of St Francis. She completed the eleven miles in a little over three hours and we would like to thank all our friends who were kind enough to sponsor her. She raised over £500 that night, plus gift aid, and is very grateful for all the support she received. Thank you all so much.

Hannah Nichols
Granddaughter of Mimi and the late John Nichols married Thomas McQuade in St Paul’s Church on Saturday 27 July. Hannah, now living in Colchester, had always wanted to be married in St Paul’s and was so grateful to Rev Michele du Saire for making this wish come true. Thanks, too, to Jenny Laurie and her team of helpers for the beautiful flowers.
