Farewell To Richard Edwards After 32 Years On The Village Hall Committee

1st of July 2013

Richard has been a committee member since its inception when the Village Hall was known as the Church Institute. In 1982 he was appointed treasurer until 1992 when he became chairman. He has overseen the refurbishment of the hall and kitchen which meant long hours seeking funding. No job or task was too small or too big for Richard to take on and when he couldn’t do it, his network in the village ensured he found a man/woman who could.

In 2009 he oversaw the Village Hall Centenary Celebrations which were a great success and saw the return of many familiar faces.

Richard’s aim has always been to provide a place that can be beneficial to the village and bring people together to be a community. His dedication and service and sheer hard work and time given to the hall have been beyond the call of duty.

During all this time he has been ably assisted by his wife, Lesley, as his unpaid PA to whom we are extremely grateful. Lesley has also given much time to the general organisation of village hall events and in particular to the catering.

A presentation was made to Richard and Lesley.
