New Mayor Of Dacorum – Councillor Mrs Gillian Chapman
Councillor Gill Chapman has represented the ward of Bovingdon, Flaunden and Chipperfield on Dacorum Borough Council since 2007. Gill has had close ties with Chipperfield since she and her family came to live in Bovingdon in 1994 when her husband retired from his medical career in the Army. Their return from Akrotiri in
Cyprus coincided with a vacancy for an organist at St Paul’s Church. Gill’s husband, Barrie, stepped into the breach and was organist and choirmaster until
his untimely death in l997. Gill continues to attend St Paul’s Church regularly, often with her grandchildren. Her daughter, Shelley, was married
there last year.
Gill has contributed to the St Paul’s Church Flower Festival for a number of years, usually placing her arrangement in front of the stained glass window which was made in memory of her husband. She has been a long term member of Chipperfield Choral Society, singing regularly and taking part in many of their concerts.
Gill has chosen to support DENS, Action Against Homelessness, as the Mayor’s charity. By working in partnership with the community and business she aims to raise awareness
and funds for this worthwhile charity. She is delighted that significant benefits
are already being achieved. We wish her continued success,
