‘feel The Spirit’

1st of July 2011

This work by John Rutter opened Chipperfield Choral Society’s Summer Concert on 21 May. Conducted by their musical director, Delia Meehan, the choir sang Howard Goodall’s ‘23rd Psalm’, (the theme from the Vicar of Dibley) and ‘The Magic Carpet’, a light hearted musical tour arranged by Paul Jennings and Fritz Spiegl. Soloist was
Chipperfield’s fine young soprano, Rosie Clifford. Rosie gave stunning renditions of Lerner and Loewe’s ‘Ascot Gavotte’, Roger Quilter’s ‘June’, and songs by Michael Flanders and Donald Swann and David Baker. The choir were accompanied by some good
instrumentalists with Rosemary Venner on piano and keyboard. To conclude, the choir sang a selection from Frank Loesser’s musical, ‘Guys and Dolls’. Thoroughly enjoyable. A presentation was made to Alan Taylor who has done so much for the society. Alan joins
Emma Bell to become Patron of the Society.
