Following a previous request for information, Mike Waterhouse was able to put me in touch with Peter Fone who has written a wonderful account of his father’s wartime service. Every little bit of information helps me to piece together the stories of the men and women who served and I am very grateful to everyone who has made contact, or taken the trouble, to respond to my questions.
The first name this month is Archibald Timberlake who lived at 50 Tower Hill
before moving to Chapel Croft near Simmonds.
Unfortunately, from the servicewomen I have previously mentioned, Dora Keen, W Voller and Barbara Sydney Jones, (Barbara lived at Rookwood, Langley Road and is different from the Barbara Jones who was at Hillmeads Farm) I have not received any responses.
The mystery names remaining from the servicemen are: C Allam, W Bright, E Dyson, G Hutchin, W Rooke and F O West.
