Are You Young Fit And Willing? Then We Need You
The Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted is one of the largest voluntary organisations
in Hertfordshire and now needs your help! The voluntary services team is launching
a recruitment drive for youngsters (16+) to help out in its shops over the all important summer period when lots of its regular volunteers go on holiday.
Madelaine Allan and Rebecca Pollard are two examples of youngsters helping out and
having a lot of fun in the process. Both volunteer in the Chesham Hospice of St Francis
shop every other Saturday for just a couple of hours each time. They started in
September 2010 as their Duke of Edinburgh Award required them to undertake at least
three months of voluntary work; they enjoyed it so much they have stayed on.
Karen Filsell, Voluntary Services Manager, said “This is a fantastic opportunity for
young people to get involved in their local community, be it part of an extra-curricular course or to gain retail experience. We are flexible and are looking for young people who can offer one day a week for a few weeks, or whole weeks during the summer”. With shops in Berkhamsted, Hemel Hempstead, Abbots Langley, Bovingdon, and
Chesham there are many opportunities to help. For information contact:
