The Spring of 2011 has been an exciting one with our third group starting: an afternoon
nursery group for children with physical difficulties or delay. Again the dynamic trio
of Chipperfield therapists have been at the hub of the establishment of the group,
namely Debbie Hughes, Speech and Language Therapist, Gillian Stokes, Occupational
Therapist and Andrea Clarke, Physiotherapist. We have another wonderful team of
creative and dedicated staff and volunteers and it has been very intensive fun working
on the usual Playskill messy play and soft play but with lots of fine-motor tasks like
cutting with scissors and co-ordination tasks and more complex communication tasks.
The aim is to help children with a variety of difficulties ranging from Cerebral Palsy,
Spina bifida, Down Syndrome etc to access mainstream school and nurseries. Our
Hemel group continues apace as well; it was great to be involved in the Pamper
evening which Zoe Hier organised in Bovingdon in March which the parents really
enjoyed. The end of term finished with an Easter party with Sissel Parish rustling up a
lovely Easter lunch with hot cross buns and lots of Easter eggs for the children.
We have our 5 year anniversary of the pilot of the first Watford morning group
coming soon. We are celebrating with a May Ball on 6 May which will include two
live bands and a meal with wine. Please contact t.jacques967@btinternet or text 07751
302865 for tickets or to enquire about the group, or see our website for pictures of the groups in action
