1st Chipperfield Brownies

1st of May 2011

We have welcomed eight new Brownies since September 2010. Here are some of the
fun activities the girls have enjoyed during the previous two terms.
We gained our Friend to Animals badge – following on from our trip to Whipsnade
Zoo prior to the Summer holidays. Thanks go to Bob Broadfield for bringing his dog,
Teddy, along to Brownies – the girls thoroughly enjoyed this evening. We had a senses
evening when we had various activities including guess the name of the baby Brownie!
We had a keep healthy evening, a Christmas craft night and also decorated Christmas
biscuits – thanks go to Chris Deal. We ended this term with a Christmas party.
The main highlight of the term was 20:10 20/10 2010! To mark the end of the
centenary celebrations, every member of Girlguiding UK was invited to renew their
promise at exactly the same time across the country at 8.10 on 20 October 2010. We
enjoyed decorating fairy cakes, asking as many people to sign our memory ‘I was
there’ books and even did Zumba dancing! The evening ended with a joint promise
making ceremony by candlelight. What a wonderful thought to know that everyone
across the UK was making their promise at exactly the same time. Thanks for making
this happen.
After Christmas came a trip for all Kings Langley District to see Frankenstein the
Pantomime! A great evening – well done to Nikki, Guider from 3rd Kings Langley
Brownies, who was brilliant in the show. We worked for our Right to Learn badge and
Healthy Heart badge – thanks go to Sarah for some great activities. We decorated
boxes for Mothering Sunday and made chocolate nests for Easter.
We sadly said goodbye to Emma after being a Unit Helper with us for 3 years – thank
you very much Emma for all your help over the years. We welcomed Georgia and
Ciera from 1st Kings Langley Guides who are helping as Pack Leaders. Charlotte has
also joined us as a Young Leader – Charlotte was previously a Brownie from 1st
Chipperfield – welcome back Charlotte.
Also, Ann Waine has come back to our Brownies as Snowy Owl. I’m so pleased to
welcome Ann back as she was previously Brown Owl with our Pack for a number of
years. Ann replied to my advert in the Chipperfield News asking for help. Thank you
Ann.
My Pack is full at the moment, but if you would like to put your daughter’s name on
the waiting list it’s never too early The starting age for Brownies is seven.
