Anne Breen, joint editor, had indicated her wish to retire in the New Year after eleven years of dedicated service. The Chairman thanked her for all her hard work and stated we would record our official thanks to Anne in 2011. He was pleased to say Graham, her husband, had agreed to stay on as proof reader after Anne’s retirement. The Chairman asked for suggested names as possible successors. Sue Walker, joint editor, recorded her thanks to Anne for all her support in the last year or so when she had joined the desk. Sue drew the meeting’s attention to our wish to encourage new contributors to write interesting articles which could be used at some time in the year, not necessarily requiring a finite publication date.
The accounts for the year ended 31 October 2010 were presented to the meeting by Graham McMellin, showing a taxable breakeven result after making a donation to the Small Hall for their new flooring. The Balance Sheet showed funds of £8,500. The accounts were signed and adopted by the meeting.
Peter Corbett presented his annual management report and budget for 2010/11 which was duly adopted.
The Advertising report was presented by Peter Waite who explained that in these difficult times we were introducing a further loyalty discount, for a year, to those advertisers who have been with Chipperfield News for over four years.
Popsi Stokes wished to thank all her distribution team for their loyal and much appreciated work which was endorsed by the Chairman and Committee.
