Bridge Drive In Aid Of The Poppy Appeal
On the afternoon of 3 November no less than 72 people arrived at the Village Hall to launch the first Bridge Drive in aid of the Poppy Appeal held by the Chipperfield branch of the Royal British Legion. Jean Newell kindly acted as our MC, Ann Soanes was in charge of producing an amazing tea, most ably assisted by an unsung army of sandwich makers and Moreen Wheeler and Pat Tompkins in the kitchen. Our special thanks go to all of them.
Judging from the comments afterwards, everyone had thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and relaxed atmosphere and was looking forward to making this a regular date for the future.
The best news is that the Poppy Appeal received £877.60 including a highly successful raffle, superbly run by Tony Soanes, with very generous prizes being provided by a number of local businesses and individuals to whom we are extremely grateful.
