Chipperfield Care Tea Party
On Tuesday 29 June we were guests at the summer tea party of Chipperfield Care, a sumptuous ‘do’ held in the gorgeous gardens of Newhall Farm, home of Sir Richard and Lady Nicholls. The lawns were edged with deep borders bursting with all the blooms of summer, with endless views of the green countryside beyond. After the very early morning rain, the skies had cleared to a typically English blue with cotton wool balls of cloud and hot sunshine. There were gazebos aplenty, beautiful bunting made of pastel Laura Ashley prints, and little tables each decorated with a pretty floral china cup and saucer filled with flowers.
The many willing and smiling volunteers ensured everyone was served with platters of elegant sandwiches, light scones with bowls of cream and jam, delicious selections of cakes, a summer treat of fresh strawberries and cream and, most importantly, a constant supply of really good hot tea! Old friends were reunited for long chats and new friends were made. On behalf of all the guests we would like to say a heartfelt thanks to everyone from Chipperfield Care, who contributed in so many different ways, to make what was simply a perfect afternoon.
