Sarratt And Chipperfield Village Day
The glorious weather and wonderful venue of Micklefield Hall set the scene for a truly successful day on Saturday 22 May.
St Paul’s and Sarratt Schools catered superbly with a fine barbecue and cream teas in the marquee. Local community groups and an array of other local residents sold their wares on stalls which they worked hard to organise, managing to cope with the thousands of visitors all day! Nearly 1,000 cars came to the event and volunteer marshals from the church and other residents helped to manage the car park extremely efficiently.
The events in the arena from pig racing & fancy dress to the brass band and tug of war were great fun to watch and drew large crowds. The tug of war raised some healthy competition within the two villages. The hot air balloon at Chipperfield Common in the morning and two at Micklefield Hall in the afternoon provided a great spectacle and a fun ride for many.
The event raised a total of £21,000 split three ways between St Paul’s School, Sarratt School and the Church Youth Groups across both villages.
A big thank you to all those in the villages who helped on the day; to Jamie and Anna Rankin for letting us hold the event at lovely Micklefield Hall and to our other sponsors, Mothercare, Binks Estate Agent, Thrive Homes, Van Hague, Chipperfield Land Rover, Kia at Tower Hill Garage and to the generous donations of other local villagers to achieve this fantastic amount and a day of fun.
