Henry’s Angels – 5 Guys, 1 Goal ….
Last July a local lad, Henry Fraser from Scatterdells Lane in Chipperfield, damaged his spine whilst diving into the sea when on holiday with friends. Henry, at just 17, was an athletic boy and a great supporter of Watford’s Saracens rugby team, but is now confined to a wheelchair, paralysed from the neck down.
On 11 April, five well-known Saracens supporters from Chipperfield did a sponsored free-fall parachute jump at the London Parachute School at Lewknor in Oxfordshire in order to raise money for a functional electrical simulation bike to help Henry by using electrical currents to activate his nerves.
Steve Foskett, David Hudson, Andrew Hug, Peter Tydeman and Steve Barton jumped from a plane at 12,000 feet in order to raise a good sum towards the £17,000 cost of the machine.
By the beginning of May, as a result of the jump, over £11,000 has been raised and thanks must go to all those who have sponsored the five who did the jump. Terry Simmonds
