With the aid of excellent photographs, John Tyler took the Chipperfield Evening WI along the oldest surviving route, The Ridgeway, from Ivinghoe Beacon to Avebury, Wiltshire. With the aid of excellent photographs he told us the history of its development from the times of hunter/gatherers, through the change to farming and to the modern day when it is used as a leisure pursuit to walk the length of its 87 miles.
