Jasmine Langley Road Track
We are so pleased that re-surfacing is almost complete along the Langley Road Track and soon the track will be completely user friendly to everybody. We do hope everybody has use from it, I know I have had favourable reports from those wishing to walk along that stretch of road, they have found it much more preferable than walking along the narrow stretch of pavement.
I was disappointed to learn however, that on a few occasions there seems to be some misunderstanding between riders and motorists exiting from The Rookery. Riders needing to access Megg Lane from the track have to use this stretch of road to enter Megg Lane as it is far too dangerous to exit the track at the gap opposite the Lane.
Any pedestrians trying to get across the road at this point find it almost impossible as it is on a blind bend and a completely hidden exit to motorists. Pedestrians have to rely on hearing the traffic to cross.
Imagine you are on a horse with a metre of neck and head before you that you need to push out on to the road after listening for traffic, and no visibility until most of the horse is on the road. We are sorry if not using this exit causes inconvenience to motorists but the stretch of road involved is only a few yards and I am sure all will agree that is far preferable to be slightly delayed for a few seconds than have a major collision with a horse.
I do hope this has cleared up why horses have to use this stretch of road, riders would much rather not be on the road at all but there is no answer to this one other than traffic lights at the top of Megg Lane and I am sure nobody wants this.
We feel Langley Track is a good asset to our Village and hope everybody will get pleasure from using it.
