St Paul’s School

1st of March 2010

Welcome to the first St Paul’s School page in the Chipperfield News. This page has been written entirely by the pupils, and contains items that they think will be of interest. They have set up their own committee, with two Year 6 pupils as editors, Sophia Rees and James Matthews, and the others nominated as various news and sports reporters, and even a coffee break item! We hope you enjoy reading their articles and hearing more about school life.

School News
We are very excited because our Year 1 teacher Mrs Regan has just had a baby. She is very sweet and is called Sophie.
We also are doing our Rock Challenge. We will tell you about it next time.
Our builders are running late on the staff room but we are still having a children’s centre in our school.

Eco Schools
We have achieved our bronze award, and will be pleased to get our silver award this term.
We decided that if we wanted new playground equipment, we would have to find a way to raise money. People decided that natural colours would be better than bright, fancy colours.
We hope you’re being eco-friendly!

Poem
St Paul’s School, St Paul’s School,
Where children are happy,
Love to Learn, Learn to Love,
Our slogan and we show it.
Smiling faces, beaming out,
Playing and shouting.
Love to Learn, Learn to Love,
Our slogan and we show it.
Teachers are the best in the world,
Yes, teaching great new things.
Love to Learn, Learn to Love,
Our slogan and we show it.

School Sports News
On 26th January there was a football match and we won 4-1 against Bovingdon Primary. There was also a tag rugby match on 2nd February and we won 3-1. Our school netball team has recently been playing in a Hi 5 netball league. They won the first two matches. Bella Kear

Upcoming Events
We are having our themed week after half term and it is Pirates Week. With a pirate theme going on, there may be a few pirates in the neighbourhood!
Also the annual Easter Egg Hunt is taking place on the Common on 27th March at 2 pm. We are very proud of our year 6 students who will be privileged to sing at the Royal Albert Hall on 7th March.

Assemblies
On Monday Reverend Jim takes assembly and we listen to stories and parables from the Bible. On Tuesday we have a singing assembly with Miss Moore (the Year Six teacher and Deputy Head). On Wednesday a teacher will lead the assembly and read a story with a meaning. On Thursday it is just a normal assembly with Mrs Tattersall.
In assemblies on a Friday we have a sharing assembly, which is led by a class. If we don’t have a sharing assembly, each class shares what they have done in the week. We also have star of the week, and the reason why we get star of the week changes every week.
