The 2009/2010 season has now reached close to the half way stage although the very extreme weather seen over the last few weeks has meant both teams will have to undertake some midweek games to catch up before the season ends.
The first team under the leadership of Derek Hall are currently 7th out of 13 in the Herts County Premier Division which is a very creditable performance following the promotion achieved last season. They have won 6, drawn 3 and only lost 4 of their 13 league games. The first game of the New Year was against Codicote and saw the team have a great chance to reach the semi-final of the Senior Centenary Cup, but after a 3-3 result extra time couldn’t settle the match. Eventually Codicote won on penalties. They are still in the Aubrey Cup and they have another quarterfinal tie away to Cuffley.
The second team under the leadership of Jason Ward & Peter Dent are currently 4th in the Herts County Reserve Division 2 having won 6, drawn 3 and only lost 2 of their 13 league games. They are only one win off a promotion place.
There was a massive shock in November with the tragic sudden death of Ron Denham. Ron had been a massive influence over many years and he will be sadly missed.
During November the club undertook a Race Night to help raise some money for the club and this was hosted at the cricket club and was a very enjoyable evening with thanks to Dave Dyment who organised the evening. This was followed up with a Christmas Draw. Many thanks to those who donated prizes, sold tickets, bought tickets and the lucky 40 prize winners.
