Jo Hogan was a well known member of the village, having lived in Chipperfield for over 40 years. A dedicated mother to her three sons and fun-loving woman, who battled adversity at various points in her life with determination and grace.
She was born at Rosary Priory in Bushey, one of twins. She married John Hogan and moved to Chipperfield and had three boys, Niall, Dominic and Johnathan. Sadly her husband John died when only 41.
One of her great achievements was raising her three boys single-handedly, going back to work and re-learning how to drive. Jo worked for many years as a school secretary in Hemel Hempstead, also at E J Waterhouse & Sons and more recently the Chipperfield Larder.
Jo was blessed with that rare ability of being able to relate to so many people, whether young or old and from all walks of life. She truly had the gift of friendship and an uncanny ability to leave a positive mark on people she met in life. She put colour into the lives of people she met, she had a wonderful sense of fun and a youthful vitality. Jo would often be the life and soul of any occasion and would normally be the last off the dance floor at any social function!
Very sadly, she was diagnosed with a very rare blood disorder. Throughout this difficult period, she had constant support from her family. Indeed, despite her suffering, Jo always maintained her appearance and dignity. Jo passed away in her sleep at home in Chipperfield, aged 67. She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind three loving sons and two grandchildren.
