New Pilates Class In Village Hall
There is a new Pilates class coming to the Village Hall in Chipperfield. This class is for women and men taken by local Osteopath David Wells. David is an experienced Pilates trainer who has trained people from 18 to 80. He has worked with professional dancers, sports people and even run a pilates class in Hampton Court Palace.
Pilates is a course of progressive exercises with the goal of strengthening the core muscles of the body. The core muscles help stabilise the spine and pelvis. Pilates has been around for many years, Joseph Pilates published his exercises in the 1930s and back then it was called Contrology not Pilates. As the original name suggests, the exercises can help gain control of the muscles we often take for granted.
David teaches a modern and safe approach to Pilates, obviously much more is known about the body now than back before the Second World War. However the goals of the exercises are much the same. Pilates helps the body in many ways, but it is not overly taxing or stressful on the body. It is a system of exercises used by thousands of people all over the world.
Classes will be held on Wednesday mornings, starting in November 2009. For more information, please contact David or Jo Wells on 01494 583145 or e-mail david@wellsosteo.com.
