Bovingdon Country Market The Memorial Hall

9th of November 2009 - comments

Saturdays 9.30-11.30am
About 30 years ago there was a meeting in Chipperfield to consider the practicalities of opening a WI Market. After discussion it was decided to go ahead in Bovingdon as more people shopped where there was a greater choice of outlets. Thus in 1979 “Bovingdon WI Market” was born and is still successfully trading, now under a slightly different name and with a few of the original marketeers still going strong!

A lifetime shareholding in the Country Market Society costs the princely sum of 5p. We have a loyal team of local men and women who grow plants, flowers, fruit and vegetables; cook cakes, pies and savouries; make a wide selection of jams, marmalade, preserves and chutneys, plus producing a wide range of craft items. We also sell eggs, a range of fresh sausages and burgers and local honey.

Christmas starts early at the Market as we begin taking orders in October for cakes, puddings and mince pies plus a variety of seasonal items. We are always pleased to meet new producers so if you think you have a line that might sell, come in and talk to us and we will explain all the details.

If you would like to buy fresh home-made or home-grown produce, please come to the Memorial Hall in Bovingdon on any Saturday between 9.30 and 11.30 am and see what we have to offer. Peta Woollett, Chairman (Tel: 01442 833284)
