Summer Show

2nd of September 2009

The village hall was transformed into the most wonderful perfume garden with tables of fragrant and beautiful sweet peas, which the show judge said were amongst the best he had ever seen. Competition was very strong between these exhibitors with our show secretary Roger Pigg being victorious. Other classes for roses, blooms of all description and pot plants were an amazing display, alongside exhibits from our gifted handicraft members. The domestic classes were of a very high standard as were our classes for floral art. Fruit and vegetable classes were full of produce that looked very appetising and both the junior classes and the photography classes were of a high standard. After the judging had finished, the doors opened again at 2.30 and a most delicious cream tea was served before the prize giving at 3.30 followed by the raffle and auction of produce.
Many thanks, as always, to Roger Pigg, who does an amazing job in organizing these shows and to all the committee and helpers, without whom we could not manage to maintain such a high standard, we are very grateful to them all.
The results were as follows: T.J. Denny Trophy – Roger Pigg; National Sweet Peas Society’s Medal – Doug Leslie; A.T. Hutchinson Challenge Cup – Roger Pigg; National Rose Society’s Bronze Medal – Ann Soanes; F. Baldwin Cup – Eileen Foulgham; Pettet Cup – Pauline Williams; Cottagers Challenge Cup – Pauline Williams.
Ann Soanes – Secretary
