Liz Holliday
Thanks to the generosity of her many friends, and the organisations with which she was involved, the magnificent sum of £1574 has been donated to the Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted, in memory of Liz.
Mark Jarrad writes: We have received a number of suggestions regarding a memorial for Liz, including an annual prize to a pupil of St Paul’s School, replacing a bench beside the cricket field (perhaps with dog drinking bowl attached!), naming a path in the woods, installing a plaque in the Small Hall, opening up the area of the cock-fighting pit and planting a native tree on the Common.
We have had preliminary meetings to ensure that the suggestions are broadly feasible; however the proposals are not yet fully costed, so as yet we are unsure about the total amount. In the meantime if anyone feels they would like to contribute, please send a cheque (payable to “Chipperfield Parish Council”) to the Parish Clerk, Mrs J Deacon, 6 Myrtle Cottages, Sarratt WD3 6AT. Once we have an idea of how much cash we have, we’ll be able to decide how many of the projects we can turn into reality.
