Chipperfield Village Hall Agm Wednesday 3 June

2nd of July 2009

A well attended meeting heard Richard Edwards, Chairman, report a successful financial year with a near maximum uptake in lettings. The main hall flooring had been sanded and sealed in April 08, and new chairs provided in May 09, both of which had been appreciated by users. Anne Stickland, the Village Hall Secretary, was appointed as an additional trustee with the Charity Commission. Tony Cornell, Treasurer, presented the annual accounts which showed an operating profit of £3,000 for the year ended 31st March 09. This increased total funds employed to £31,000.
The Village Hall Centenary Exhibition was scheduled for the last weekend of June. There will also be a Variety Show on 17th October and a Quiz Night on 14th November.
On the Chipperfield News front, the Chairman reported the sad and sudden death of Sally Main, the publication’s first editor October 1988 – July 1994, whose tireless work in those formative years had been greatly appreciated. He also spoke of the untimely death in April of Liz Holliday which had been reported in the June issue.
Richard Edwards went on to record that Gladys Taaffe had indicated her wish to retire after twenty seven years of dedicated service, initially as the Booking Secretary for the Village Hall. He also recorded that Moreen Wheeler, the splendid caretaker, had completed fifteen years of service. She was presented with a restaurant voucher to celebrate this event and a card for her ‘big birthday’ the following week. All present endorsed their congratulations to both ladies.
Finally, he recorded his thanks to the committee and all users for their support, and to John Foulgham for his kind comments.
