Chipperfield Corinthians Promoted But Miss Out On Top Spot

2nd of July 2009

Chipperfield Corinthians Football Club had an excellent season achieving second place in Division One and promotion back to the Premier Division; we are looking forward to playing Bovingdon again next season. After leading the league for most of the season it all came down to one final game against Cuffley. In a very close game, Cuffley scored from a corner with 10 minutes to go and with a last minute penalty won the game 2-0 and went on to win the Division One title.
In the Aubrey Cup, which is the Herts Senior County League cup competition, Chipperfield also went close but lost in the semi-final to Mill End who eventually won the cup. Chipperfield led twice but a last minute free kick gave Mill End a 3-2 win.
The club would like to thank First Team sponsors Joywheel and CJ Wren for their support and are always looking for additional sponsors to put an advertising board around the pitch or an advert in the match day programme. The club only survives on member subscriptions, Parish grants, sponsorship and fundraising.
Training starts again for the new season on Thursday 2nd July at 7pm and will be held at the ground on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the start of the season on 15th August. All footballers are welcome to attend and we are especially looking forward to the under 18 players joining us after winning their League title last season.
After the first training session on Thursday 2nd July there will be a Presentation of the runners-up medals to the players in Blackwell’s from 9pm. All are welcome to attend.
