Sometimes, believe it or not, I struggle to know what to say! This month it has taken a long time for me to think about what to write for Chipperfield News.
Gradually one thought became clearer in my mind – the importance of ‘listening’ or ‘hearing’. We live in an age when we are bombarded with information – but how much do I (we?) actually hear? – and act upon?
In Jewish thought a person has not ‘heard’ until they have ‘obeyed’ – or made a positive and practical response to what they have ‘heard’.
Could we make May a month when we genuinely seek to speak less and listen more?

‘Listen’ to the created world, and what we are doing to it
‘Listen’ to other people
‘Listen’ to the frantic lives we seem to think we have to live
‘Listen’ to Jesus Christ

We might be surprised at the difference such listening might make!
