Whilst we are delighted to have Fr. Terry here we are all aware that, after a lifetime in Africa, he will be homesick for Tanzania, but when asked about this he says that, although he misses the people and the whole way of life there, the warmth of the welcome he has felt from everyone in the Chipperfield area has made the great change easier. The frost and snow during the coldest UK winter for many years he described as “Cold but bright”.
The next hurdle for Fr.Terry is to get behind the wheel as his present licence is only valid for a year in the UK. Technically they drive on the left in Tanzania but, as there is little traffic, vehicles usually drive in the middle of the road. While he is waiting for insurance to come through you might see Fr.Terry having a practice drive around the church car-park. He intends to give up motor-cycling!
A very successful Quiz Night was held at Bovingdon Village Hall with the proceeds going to the Children’s Cancer Hospital in Tanzania.
During Lent the Family Fast Day collection was sent to help fund Cafod’s work amongst the poorest of the world’s poor.
