Please come and enjoy an evening with us on Sunday 21 June to support the work of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust. The charity was founded just three years ago to fund research into finding a cure for Parkinson’s, and we raise the funds which enable us to do so through events and activities organised by Movers & Shakers.
The Cure Parkinson’s Trust was founded by four men with Parkinson’s – Sir Richard Nichols, former Lord Mayor of London, Air Vice Marshal Michael Dicken, Sir David Jones, former Chairman of Next Plc and now Chairman of JJB Sports, and Tom Isaacs, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 27. Tom has since walked 4,500 miles around the coastline of Britain, to raise awareness that young people get Parkinson’s, and written a book called Shake Well Before Use.
By kind permission of Jamie and Anna Rankin, this Gala Opera Concert will take place in the delightful surroundings of Micklefield Hall, Sarratt. Sally Silver, a renowned operatic soprano in her own right, has brought together international singers of the highest calibre – Kristy Swift (Soprano), Maria Soulis (Mezzo-soprano), Adriano Graziani (Tenor), and David Kempster (Baritone) – who will entertain us to the best-loved arias from Carmen and La Traviata. Jeremy Silver, who is in demand as a conductor all over the world, will conduct an orchestra provided by the Purcell School of Music, by kind permission of their Head Master, Peter Crook. Both Sally and Jeremy’s fathers have Parkinson’s, and all artists are giving their professional time for free to support the charity.
This promises to be a very special evening, so do book early. The Reception starts at 6.30pm, the concert at 7.15, dress is informal, and we ask you to bring your own picnics for the interval.
