Afternoon W.I.
On January 20, we held a celebration lunch to celebrate our 75th anniversary. We had a lovely hot meal and plenty of puddings in the Village Hall decorated with balloons and flowers. The anniversary cake was cut by our longest-serving members, Mimi Nichols (55 years) and Daphne Pritchard (38 years). Our guest speaker was the flower arranger, Nick Grounds, who gave a spectacular demonstration of his art, accompanied by amusing but also wise words.
To celebrate our 75th Anniversary, we presented the pupils of St Pauls School with a computer operated Weather-station, which will tell them everything about the local weather. They had come to sing carols for us at our Christmas party, as they do every year.
Our annual election gave us a new President, Mrs Margaret Windsor, and while welcoming her, we thank our retiring President, Mrs Rosemary Wakeman, for all the work she did for us.

Evening W.I.
Following the excesses of Christmas and the New Year, members of the Evening W.I. enjoyed an interesting and amusing talk in January given by Brenda Berners-Price entitled “Eating Should be Fun”. Brenda illustrated her talk by demonstrating ideal quantities in a balanced diet, as well as showing items of food which were good for us and, perhaps more importantly, things which were not good for us! All members vowed to eat more sensibly to lose weight and achieve perfect figures!
