Congratulations to Andy Coote of Heath End who achieved a personal best of 2 hours 18 minutes running in the Great North Run on Sunday 5 October. The run is a half marathon (13.2 miles) from the centre of Newcastle, across the Tyne Bridge and down the coast road to South Shields. This is the fifth year Andy has taken part to raise funds for Myeloma UK, a charity which pays for research and supports patients suffering from this, as yet incurable, bone cancer.
So far this year Andy has raised £1,100 from those who sponsored his run.

We hope that Philip and Jane Meredith will be very happy in their new home, Brambles, The Common. Jane is the daughter of Rita Forsythe who is a member of the intrepid band who deliver Chipperfield News in the village.

We are sad to record the deaths of Ted Bone of Great Winch, Little Windmill Hill; also Jim Pritchard of Tuffs Farm, Tower Hill. We extend our sympathy to both families.
