Chipperfield Horticultural Society
SUMMER SHOW
Very hot sun followed by thunderous downpours reduced the number of Sweet Peas entered into the July show this year, however John North produced such a wonderful selection of flowers that he won five first prizes as well as the Sweet Pea Society’s Medal for the best exhibit. Roses had also suffered in the changing weather, but the standard was as high as ever as were the stunning entries in both the floral art and handicraft sections. The fruit and vegetables looked mouth watering as did the entries in the domestic section. The photography is as popular as ever with two classes being judged this time.
The Cottagers Challenge Cup for the most points for flowers, fruit and vegetables was won by Mrs Sylvia Oliver. The Pettet Cup (roses) and the National Rose Society’s Bronze Medal went to Linda Marzac. The T.J. Denny Trophy for the best specimen rose was won by Roger Pigg. The Frank Baldwin Cup for floral arrangement in green and white was awarded to Eileen Foulgham. Many congratulation to all the winners, they really deserved their success.

Highgrove: Home of H.R.H. The Prince of Wales
We were delighted to receive a letter inviting our Society to come to Highgrove to visit the gardens. We applied a few years ago and had expected to wait a longer period of time. The committee had already decided that those members who regularly supported our Society would be asked if they would like to be one of the 25 who will visit on Monday, 19 September.
Pippa Greenwood is coming to Chipperfield – see notice on page 11.
