Stanley Midson 1916 – 2003

19th of April 2003

Stanley Midson died on 13 February at Hemel Hempstead following a heart attack while recovering from a fall at home. Stan was a very private and rather solitary man, known to few people in the village other than his immediate neighbours on The Common. He moved to Chipperfield from Chorleywood in 1965 after the death of his wife. Until recently he was very fit and both a keen gardener and walker.
A talented artist who trained at Willesden School of Art, Stan worked for many years as a freelance specialising in scraper-board illustration. His watercolour of The Apostles Pond painted in 1976 featured on the front cover of Chipperfield Within Living Memory.
