Living opposite the Chipperfield Larder, I have been in the unique position of being able to watch the renovations from start to finish – necessary after its collision with a Porsche!
I would like to congratulate Alistair Sommerville ‘on his hard work. It entailed lots of drawings, sketching in the twilight and sign-writing on the bedroom floor as well as wall-building, sanding and painting. He had to endure the constant jokes and ribald comments flung at him from passers-by – as well as neighbours – as he hung precariously from various parts of the building (shorts akimbo!). He finished with a flourish, colourfully replanting the trough outside. The end result is a credit to him and the owners of the Larder. Popsi Stokes
